Fort Lauderdale Boat Show 2026: A Ground Logistics Guide

FLIBS 2026, 28 Oct to 1 Nov in Fort Lauderdale: airports and FBOs, bridge works, show shuttles and the neighbourhoods to base in for a smooth week.

The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show returns from 28 October to 1 November 2026, and for five days the city's waterfront becomes one of the most congested square miles in Florida. Yachts move on the water with ease; people on land do not. This guide covers the airports, the bridges, the show's transport network and the neighbourhoods that matter.

The event at a glance

The 67th edition of FLIBS runs Wednesday 28 October to Sunday 1 November 2026. According to the organiser's published schedule, the show opens at noon on the Wednesday preview day, runs 10 am to 7 pm from Thursday to Saturday, and closes at 5 pm on the Sunday; verify final hours before travelling.

The show is spread across several waterfront sites rather than one venue: the Broward County Convention Center on Eisenhower Boulevard, Bahia Mar Yachting Center on Seabreeze Boulevard, Hall of Fame Marina, Las Olas Marina, Pier Sixty-Six Marina and the Superyacht Village at Pier Sixty-Six South. The organiser positions the Convention Center as the transport hub, with free shuttles and golf carts connecting the sites and a ticketed water taxi linking the marinas along the Intracoastal Waterway. The Windward VIP programme, with early access to the Superyacht Village and a cabana club at Bahia Mar, is sold separately.

Two facts shape ground logistics: the show sits on the barrier island side of the city, reached by a handful of bridges, and the biggest crowds arrive on Saturday 31 October, which this year coincides with Halloween.

Arriving: airports and private aviation

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International (FLL) is the natural choice. It lies roughly five miles south of Las Olas Boulevard and, outside show traffic, the drive to the beach hotels takes well under twenty minutes. During show hours the same journey can double, because the 17th Street Causeway and Federal Highway corridors absorb show traffic on top of the weekday load. Plan a 30 to 40 minute window for a daytime arrival.

For private aviation, FLL hosts several fixed-base operators, including Sheltair, Signature Flight Support, Jetscape and National Jets, with US customs and immigration on the field, which makes it the stronger option for transatlantic arrivals.

Fort Lauderdale Executive (FXE) is the dedicated business aviation airport, north-west of downtown, with Banyan Air Service, Sano Jet Center, W Aviation and World Jet among its FBOs. The longest runway is just over 6,000 feet, which suits most midsize and super-midsize jets but can limit heavy aircraft at high weights. Customs is available during published hours, but immigration is more limited than at FLL, so international crews should confirm their clearance plan with the FBO in advance. From FXE, expect 30 to 45 minutes to the Las Olas and Bahia Mar area in show-week traffic.

Miami International (MIA) adds roughly 26 miles. In normal traffic the drive to Fort Lauderdale takes 35 to 45 minutes; in the afternoon peak, roughly 3 pm to 7 pm, it stretches to 75 to 90 minutes on I-95, with Friday afternoons the worst. If the only convenient flight lands at MIA mid-afternoon, build that into the day.

Palm Beach International (PBI) is about 45 miles to the north: a sensible alternative for guests staying in the Palm Beach area, with roughly an hour's drive south via I-95 outside peak periods and noticeably more during the show.

Getting around during the event

The organiser's advice is to park once at the Broward County Convention Center and move between sites by shuttle, golf cart or water taxi. For a chauffeured itinerary, treat the show footprint as a zone to be dropped at and collected from, not driven through.

The show shuttles run on published loop routes: a Purple route between the Convention Center and Bahia Mar, a Green route adding the Superyacht Village, a Blue route serving the West Marine Center and Bahia Mar, and a Red route linking the Brightline Fort Lauderdale station with the Riverside Hotel on Las Olas. Shuttles run from one hour before opening to one hour after closing. A chauffeur positioned at an agreed collection point outside the loops avoids the queues entirely.

The water taxi is often the fastest way between marinas by day and the most pleasant way back to a Las Olas hotel in the evening; it needs its own ticket, sold separately from admission.

Bridges are the variable to watch. The East Las Olas Boulevard bridge is under a Florida Department of Transportation rehabilitation that began in January 2026 and continues into 2027, with full openings now requiring advance notice through the Coast Guard. Weekend closures tied to the works have been announced at short notice this year; a chauffeur who checks the city's traffic advisories each morning and routes via Sunrise Boulevard or the 17th Street Causeway when needed is worth more than any app. Verify bridge operations with the city before each day's plan.

Where the city concentrates

Las Olas Boulevard is the social spine of the week: the dining strip, the Riverside Hotel, the Brightline shuttle connection and the walk to Las Olas Marina. Hotels on and around the boulevard suit guests who want dinner within walking distance and a morning drive to the marinas.

Bahia Mar on Seabreeze Boulevard is the heart of the show. Staying on the beach strip between Bahia Mar and the Hall of Fame Marina puts the main docks within a short walk, at the cost of the heaviest traffic on arrival and departure days. Check-in on the Wednesday preview afternoon is best scheduled before noon or after 7 pm.

Harbor Beach, south of Bahia Mar, is the quieter resort stretch along South Ocean Lane, with the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort as the established address: close enough to walk to Bahia Mar, far enough from the Seabreeze crowds to feel like a retreat.

Pier Sixty-Six, on the 17th Street Causeway, hosts two show venues on its own marina. The resort reopened after a complete redevelopment and gives direct access to the Superyacht Village for guests focused on the brokerage fleet. The Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina sits nearby, close to the Convention Center. Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, about six miles north, is a lower-key base for those happy to commute by car or water taxi.

A sample day

07:30 – Depart a Harbor Beach or Las Olas hotel for a breakfast meeting at Pier Sixty-Six, before the causeway fills. 09:00 – Chauffeur drops at the Superyacht Village for Windward VIP early access, then stands down to a pre-agreed position off the show footprint. 12:30 – Water taxi to Bahia Mar for the afternoon on the main docks. 16:00 – Collection at an agreed point on Seabreeze Boulevard, away from the main gate, for a return to the hotel. 18:30 – Transfer to Las Olas for dinner; 22:00 – return to the hotel, routed around any bridge opening or closure that day.

On Saturday 31 October, add 20 to 30 minutes to every road segment.

Booking windows and what to confirm

Hotels along the beach and on Las Olas fill well in advance for show week. Confirm the following before travel:

  • Show opening hours and ticket categories for each day, with the organiser.
  • FBO slot, customs and immigration arrangements, especially for international arrivals into FXE.
  • East Las Olas bridge status and any weekend closures published by the city or FDOT.
  • Hotel arrival time, with a buffer on the Wednesday and Saturday.
  • Water taxi tickets for the days you intend to move between marinas.
  • Collection points for each venue, agreed with the chauffeur the evening before.
  • Any Windward VIP or Concours add-ons listed by the organiser.
