Las Vegas Grand Prix 2026: A Ground Logistics Guide

Las Vegas Grand Prix, 19-21 November 2026: airports, private aviation, Strip closure hours, real transfer times and what to confirm before race week.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix returns from 19 to 21 November 2026, with the race starting at 20:00 local time on Saturday night. For three evenings the circuit is the city's main road network: Las Vegas Boulevard, Koval Lane, Harmon Avenue and Sands Avenue close to traffic for hours at a time. Whether the weekend runs smoothly depends less on your seat than on when and where a car can reach you.

The event at a glance

The 2026 edition is the fourth running of the modern race. Formula 1's official calendar lists the Grand Prix on Saturday 21 November, with qualifying and the race both starting at 20:00 local time. There is no sprint.

The published timetable has two practice sessions on Thursday 19 November (16:30 and 20:00), a third practice at 16:30 and qualifying at 20:00 on Friday 20 November, and the 50-lap race on Saturday. F1 Academy is the support series, with sessions placed around the Formula 1 running each day. Session times can move, so verify with the organiser in race week.

The Las Vegas Strip Circuit is a 3.853-mile, 17-turn street track, with the pit building and Grand Prix Plaza on its eastern side, off Koval Lane. For 2026 the West Harmon, East Harmon and Koval spectator zones have been linked into one footprint, so ticket holders can move between them without leaving and re-entering.

Arriving: airports and private aviation

Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) is about five kilometres from the Strip, and on a normal day the transfer to the main resorts takes around ten minutes. In race week, allow far longer. Lane reductions are in place throughout the day, and from early afternoon the ways into the resort corridor narrow to a few crossings.

Private aviation has three airports in the Las Vegas valley. Harry Reid has two fixed-base operators, Signature Aviation and Atlantic Aviation. Henderson Executive Airport (HND), to the south, is a general aviation field with no airline traffic, and North Las Vegas Airport (VGT) lies to the north. Boulder City Municipal, further out, is the usual overflow.

In 2025 all four airports required prior permission (PPR) for aircraft parking from the Tuesday before the race to the Tuesday after, drop-and-go flights included, and departure slots had to be reserved for the Sunday after the race, the peak day for traffic. We did not find the 2026 notice in the sources consulted for this guide, so verify with the operator or the FBO before fixing an arrival time.

Two points help in any case. Arrive early in the day and early in the week, as flight planners recommend. And note that Thanksgiving falls on Thursday 26 November, so demand for aircraft and for cars stays high well into the following week.

Getting around during the event

The organiser publishes the 2026 closure schedule on its transportation portal, transportation.f1lasvegasgp.com, and that is the page to check in the days before travel. As a reference, on the three race days of 2025 the circuit roads began closing at 13:00, were fully closed by 15:00 and reopened between midnight and 03:00. The 2026 sessions start at similar hours, but treat last year's pattern as a working assumption and verify with the organiser.

In 2025 the closures covered:

  • Las Vegas Boulevard between Spring Mountain Road and Harmon Avenue, in both directions
  • Koval Lane between Sands Avenue and Harmon Avenue
  • Harmon Avenue between Las Vegas Boulevard and Koval Lane
  • Sands Avenue between Las Vegas Boulevard and Manhattan Street
  • sections of Flamingo Road and Spring Mountain Road

Las Vegas police recommended limiting travel to essential trips and suggested Maryland Parkway as the alternative north-south route.

Temporary vehicle bridges keep the area inside the circuit reachable while the track is live. The Flamingo bridge at Koval Lane was being installed in mid-October 2026. In 2025 The Venetian sent arriving cars over that bridge during closures and shut the Palazzo garage and valet for the same hours. Each resort issues its own instructions, so ask your hotel which entrance works after the roads close.

The weeks before the race matter too. Until 9 November, two southbound lanes of Las Vegas Boulevard are closed between Flamingo Road and Bellagio Drive for construction of the Bellagio Fountain Club, and overnight lane reductions rotate along Harmon Avenue, Sands Avenue and Koval Lane.

Three rules follow from all this:

  • Be in place early. Reach your hotel, or the circuit side you need, before the afternoon closures begin.
  • Choose a side. Crossing the Strip by car is not realistic during closure hours. Pedestrian bridges stay open, but some crossings have required a race ticket while the track is live.
  • Agree a meeting point on foot. After each session, plan to walk to a pick-up outside the circuit perimeter, fixed in advance with your chauffeur.

The Las Vegas Monorail runs behind the resorts on the east side of the Strip, away from the track. In previous years it ran around the clock on race weekend; verify with the operator for 2026.

Where the city concentrates

The resorts that sit on or beside the circuit set the geography of the weekend. At the northern end are Wynn and Encore, The Venetian and The Palazzo. Along the Strip straight are Caesars Palace, Bellagio, Paris Las Vegas and The Cosmopolitan, with Aria and the CityCenter resorts at the Harmon corner. Fontainebleau, further north, stands outside the closed section.

Staying inside the circuit means everything is on foot in the evening and the car matters mainly for arrival, departure and daytime. Staying outside it, west of Interstate 15 or at the southern end of the Strip, reverses the trade: cars move more freely, and each evening begins with a planned drop-off and a walk.

Hospitality follows the same map: the Paddock Club above the pits, the Bellagio Fountain Club on the Strip, and Grand Prix Plaza and the Harmon zones on the east side. Sphere, which the circuit passes, is listed as the venue for the concert after the podium; verify with the organiser.

A sample day

This timeline assumes race Saturday and last year's closure pattern.

  • 08:00 Breakfast at the hotel. Roads are open but slow; this is the window for airport runs and arriving guests.
  • 10:30 Anything that needs a car: lunch away from the Strip, a meeting, collecting guests from Henderson or North Las Vegas.
  • 12:30 Back at the resort. The car drops you before closures start and repositions outside the circuit.
  • 15:00 Circuit closed. From here the day is on foot.
  • 16:20 F1 Academy feature race.
  • 17:30 Hospitality, or an early dinner within walking distance of your gate.
  • 20:00 Race start, 50 laps.
  • 22:00 Podium and the first wave of departures. Avoid planning a pick-up now.
  • 23:00 After-race events on foot, or the walk to the agreed meeting point.
  • 24:00 Roads reopen in stages after midnight. Your chauffeur waits outside the perimeter, in contact by message.

Booking windows and what to confirm

  • Aircraft parking and departure slots: as soon as the airport notice appears. Sunday slots go first; a Monday departure is often the calmer choice.
  • Chauffeur service: reserve cars by the hour for full days, well ahead, with pick-up points named in writing down to the resort entrance.
  • Hotel: which entrance, garage and valet operate during closures, and how luggage is handled if you arrive after 13:00.
  • Organiser: final closure hours, gate assignments, session times and which pedestrian crossings need a ticket.
