Pitti Uomo 111 in Florence: A Ground Logistics Guide
Pitti Uomo 111 runs in Florence on 12-15 January 2027, with Dunhill as guest designer on 14 January: airports, the ZTL, the Fortezza and evening shows.
Pitti Uomo 111 runs in Florence from Tuesday 12 to Friday 15 January 2027, and the evening of Thursday 14 January now carries the headline show of the edition: Dunhill, the British menswear house, is the guest designer. For buyers, press and guests, the week means a compact historic centre, a limited-traffic zone and one particularly busy Thursday night.
This guide covers what has been announced, how to arrive, and how to plan movements between the fair, hotels and evening events. For help with the ground side of fashion weeks and fairs, see our events page.
What has been announced
Pitti Immagine confirmed in mid-October that Dunhill will be the guest designer of Pitti Uomo 111, with a show in Florence on the evening of 14 January, according to FashionUnited, Milano Finanza and Hypebeast. The collection is presented under creative director Simon Holloway, who has led the house since 2023.
At the time of writing, the venue of the Dunhill show has not been published. Guest-designer shows at Pitti have often been staged in locations away from the main fair, so the address may only reach invited guests close to the date. Verify the details with the organiser or with the invitation.
Arriving in Florence
Florence Airport, also known as Peretola, sits just north-west of the city and is the closest option, normally a short drive from the centre. It has a single runway and fewer connections than the larger airports in the region. When Florence is unavailable, airlines tend to move flights to Pisa or Bologna, both roughly an hour to an hour and a half away by road in normal traffic.
For a January trip, two habits help. Share your flight number when you book ground transport, so that a change of airport can be followed without a call. And if you arrive on the morning of 14 January with a show that evening, leave a margin for a possible diversion.
Moving between the Fortezza and the centre
Pitti Uomo is traditionally held at the Fortezza da Basso, the Medici fortress near Santa Maria Novella station, on the north-western edge of the historic centre. Most hotels used by visitors are within a short drive, but the route crosses or skirts the limited-traffic zone.
According to the Italian motoring press, the main ZTL sectors are generally active from Monday to Friday between 7:30 and 20:00, and on Saturday between 7:30 and 16:00. The summer night restrictions do not apply in January. Vehicles need the correct authorisation to enter, and drop-off points close to some hotels are limited, so verify access rules with the Comune di Firenze or with your hotel.
During fair hours the streets around the Fortezza are busy with arrivals and departures, especially at opening time and in the late afternoon. Agreeing a precise pick-up point with your chauffeur before you enter the fair avoids searching for the car at the gates.
The Dunhill evening and other shows
Thursday 14 January is likely to be the most crowded evening of the week, with guests leaving the Fortezza, returning to hotels and moving on to the show and to dinners. A car held for the evening, rather than separate one-way bookings, makes it easier to absorb a delayed start or a change of venue. If your schedule also includes Milan in the following days, our La Scala opening night guide describes how we approach evening logistics in another Italian city.
Brands and agencies hosting their own guests during the fair can coordinate several cars and staggered arrivals through our corporate service, while individual travellers can arrange timings and transfers through our concierge.
Planning notes for the week
- Confirm the Dunhill venue and arrival time on your invitation, and plan the pick-up after the show before you go in.
- Keep the fair days and the evenings separate in your planning: daytime movements are short, evening ones depend on venues that may change.
- If you fly out on Friday 15 January, the last day of the fair, allow extra time for the drive to the airport and check whether your flight departs from Florence, Pisa or Bologna.
- Rules, times and venues set by the organiser or by the city can change, so verify them with the organiser or the operator close to the date.
